October in my garden

by Wendy Syddall

It’s a sunny but windy day here in the north west of England where I live and at this time of year there is much less to do in the garden, it’s more about preparing it for winter.

I have a short list of jobs to be doing this month as follows:

  • Plant my new tulip bulbs in pots
  • Clean the greenhouse both inside and out and preferably my pots and trays too. This is in readiness to overwinter dahlias and some other fussy to plants.
  • Finish tidying up perennials that have finished and get rid of annuals that have finished.
  • Maybe plant some wallflowers for spring colour – must buy them first

You might like to do some of those jobs too!

I’ll leave you with pictures of what’s in flower in my garden this month. As I don’t like to show the same plant in more than one months blog this is getting to be a challenge, however, I have found a couple of things
